What's New: Napoleon Slept Here
A historic hotel in Germany's Black Forest joins the RCI family
Germany’s Black Forest; the Parkhotel Wehrle.

PARKHOTEL WEHRLE Triberg, Germany

Triberg, a historic village in the heart of the Black Forest (in southwestern Germany), is considered a birthplace of the cuckoo clock, the home of the country’s first railway (1873) and the site of its tallest waterfall (the 530-foot Gutach Falls). It’s also where you’ll find the romantic Parkhotel Wehrle, which recently became an RCI®-affiliated resort. (parkhotel-wehrle.com)

The hotel has 27 elegant rooms in its original building, which dates back 400 years (Napoléon Bonaparte slept here when he conquered Germany in 1806). Nearby is the hotel’s country chalet, with another 25 rooms, and the new, ultra-modern Sanitas Spa. Guests may enjoy the pool, a Finnish sauna, a gym and a full menu of treatments, including ancient Asian healing therapies. The Wehrle’s 100-year-old Ochsenstube Restaurant is still heated by a ceramic-tiled stove, while the more casual Alte Schmiede serves such local dishes as Black Forest ham and Black Forest cake.
